Opening Drainage Pathways

Learning about the importance of opening drainage pathways has completely changed my perspective on how to heal!

This is why I recommend supporting drainage as the first step in any healing journey.

I have been on my own healing journey for nearly a decade. It wasn’t until last year, when I learned about drainage pathways and how to support them, that I finally started feeling results on my healing protocol. It has truly been life changing!

You may be asking yourself: What is drainage? Why is it so important to open drainage pathways? How can you support drainage?

I created this post and free guide to answer these questions and empower you with the tools you need to enhance drainage. The guide is available for download at the end of this post.

Ready to learn the first step for healing?

Let’s dive in!

What is drainage?

Drainage is your body’s way of removing waste, toxins and pathogens through a series of pathways. This is the unique system that allows our bodies to naturally detoxify on their own.

Each of these pathways are interconnected and rely on each other to properly drain & detox.

Why is drainage so important?

If any of our drainage pathways are not functioning optimally, toxins will not be able to exit the body. They will instead recirculate in your system and be reabsorbed by the body. This leads to stagnation. Overtime, this stagnation will lead to chronic disease and symptoms of dysfunction.

Why is opening drainage pathways the first step to heal?

It is absolutely necessary to ensure drainage pathways are open and functioning optimally before jumping into a detox or “killing” phase of a healing protocol. This is especially true if you are planning to begin killing pathogens or parasites.

If pathways are blocked, all the toxins your body is working so hard to detox won’t have anywhere to go and you could experience a healing crisis with a whole host of “Herxhemier” (detox) reactions.

What is a healing crisis?

A healing crisis can occur when toxins are dislodged from the body. It can also occur when pathogens “die off” and release endotoxins. The rapid release of these toxins can cause you to feel mild symptoms called a healing crisis or “Herxhemier reaction.”

What are symptoms of a detox reaction?

Some of the symptoms you may experience during a healing crisis include:

  • Sweating
  • Chills
  • Fever
  • Aches/pains
  • Nausea
  • Dizziness
  • Skin irritations
  • Congestion
  • Excess mucus
  • Fatigue
  • Diarrhea
  • Constipation

This is why you need to first support your body’s drainage pathways to ensure they’re ready to remove toxins before jumping into a detox.

I can’t stress this enough!!

Not supporting drainage can often be a key reason many healing protocols fail!

How can you tell if your pathways are blocked?

There are a series of questions you can ask yourself to determine if your pathways are open and if you’re ready for a detox, or if you need to show your pathways some love first.

Download the free guide below for a checklist of questions to ask yourself!

If you answered “no” to the majority of these questions, a detox could do you more harm than good.

If this is the case, you will need to work to support your drainage pathways before moving forward.

How can you open drainage pathways and prepare for detox?

There are a number of lifestyle activities and supplements that can be used to support drainage.

Download the free guide to drainage below for some of my top tips!

Ideally, you should spend at least 30 days working to support drainage with these tips. Then, use the checklist in the guide to reassess.

Should I only focus on opening drainage pathways before detox?

Because drainage is our body’s ability to eliminate toxins, we want this process happening at all times, not just when we’re working through a healing protocol.

Ideally, once you have opened drainage pathways and healed from your root causes of dysfunction, you should be able to maintain open drainage pathways more easily.
